Mike Parker is a consummate professional with an enviable career in the primary health care sector. Mike joins Primary Care Surveyors (PCS) as Healthcare Consultant to expand the market and the geographical area of operation of the business, as well as increasing the PCS profile in certain areas of operation.
Mike and Adam Thompson, the founder of PCS, have a working relationship that spans more than 15 years. They first collaborated whilst Mike was managing property investments in the primary care sector at a Canadian family run investment company. Mike subsequently went on to work at Wandsworth PCT before joining NHS Property Services Ltd where he headed up the London Property Management Team. In Summer 2017 he was appointed as the National Programme Manager for NHSPS’s National Vacant Space Programme, helping to successfully launch what was considered at the time to be an innovative programme to assist CCGs in reducing their vacant space costs across the UK.
Mike and Adam’s paths crossed again in early 2019 and the time was right for Mike to get back into the primary care property sector. He joined PCS to assist the business to develop its client base, working with new landlords and clinical practices. With the skills honed over a long career, Mike will be working with GPs and institutional landlords, conducting rent reviews, whilst negotiating new rents and leases. Part of his responsibility will be to take on various caseloads of the practice, working with Adam to increase the size and calibre of the clients that PCS works with.
Why did Mike join PCS? He explains in his own words, “Joining PCS has enabled me to return to the primary care world, which is something that I enjoy, thereby enabling me to utilise my negotiating skills, experience and network of contacts gained from my time in the sector, whilst assisting Adam to develop the PCS brand and business”.
What skills and support will Mike bring to Primary Care Surveyors? Adam Thompson comments, “Mike will be taking on more responsibility for rent reviews as well as enabling the practice to provide key clients with additional support. This will give me more capacity to manage the up-swing in the new development projects that PCS is fast gaining a reputation for.”
Away from the office, Mike is married with a grown-up family. His recreational interests include watching rugby – being a huge rugby union fan, he recently travelled to Japan to support England in the World Cup 2019. When not watching his favourite teams play, he is a keen recreational cyclist.
